Triamcort 0.2% Injection, containing 2mg of triamcinolone acetonide per ml, is a potent anti-inflammatory medication used in the treatment of inflammation and related disorders in dogs and cats. This white suspension is indicated for the management and treatment of acute arthritis, allergic disorders, and dermatologic disorders in companion animals.
For dogs and cats, the recommended dosage of Triamcort 0.2% Injection varies depending on the condition being treated. In inflammatory or allergic disorders, the dose ranges from 0.06ml to 0.11ml per kg of body weight, while in dermatologic disorders, the dose is 0.11ml per kg of body weight. Remission of symptoms typically lasts 7 to 15 days, after which the dose may be repeated if symptoms recur.
In horses, Triamcort 0.2% Injection is used at a dosage of 30 ml/day for adult animals on the first day, followed by 20 ml/day on the second day, and subsequently 10 ml/day for 4-6 days. For foals, the dosage is 10 ml/day on the first day and 5 ml/day for 4-6 days. Pets can be administered at a dosage of 1 ml per 15 kg of body weight per day for 5 days.
There is no withdrawal period associated with Triamcort 0.2% Injection. However, it should not be administered to horses intended for human consumption.
Additionally, this injection contains phenylbutazone (200 mg) and dexamethasone (0.25 mg) per ml, providing analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-pyretic effects. It is indicated for the treatment of primary locomotor system diseases, as well as a coadjutant treatment to antibiotic therapy in infectious arthritis, and to control congestive and painful symptoms associated with various inflammatory processes.
